Best experienced in single player, with little to no visual mods and no Beach map changes.
Mild epilepsy warning, particularly with heart events.Katrielle is a glitched NPC, living in the void. Every day is the same. Plucking some food items from out the void, aimlessly using a computer while examining Pelican Town's every move, strolling through town unbothered since she is literally invisible, maybe playing a guitar here or there, then going to bed, only for the next day to repeat, and the next day, and the next. She wistfully watches everyone live their lives with friends and families and aspirations, but her life is comfortable and free of struggle, so she can't complain.
However, on one fateful day, a farmer moves into town. There's something special with them, as they are literally different from everyone else in Pelican Town. Unbeknownst to her and the farmer, a massive change happens to Katrielle, but what exactly? Suddenly, people are noticing her. It might be her imagination, but it's too risky to continue walking around town as if nothing's changed. It will be up to the farmer to help her along her way, and teach her how to integrate into society. Maybe she'll find a family, loved ones, and a home in Stardew Valley™.
- Standalone Mod! You can run this mod solely with just Content Patcher. However, I would personally recommend having Custom Music as well, but otherwise, this mod is very lightweight in terms of other mods that are required. :]
- Over 15 different portraits and several spritesheets! For one single character, she sure is expressive! Watch as she plays the guitar, types on the keyboard, and make many, many different faces as the farmer wrecks havoc on her life!
- Over 400 lines of dynamic dialogue! Many lines of dialogue changes depending on what you've done in the Stardew Valley™, whether it's getting married with Katrielle or someone else, or completed the community center versus the capitalist route, or being at the beach at 6AM sharp on the day of the Egg Festival, or even breaking the game by being somewhere when you shouldn't!
- Twenty-one total events! And like with the dynamic dialogue, many of these events change depending on what the farmer has done or seen. Many of the events contribute to an ongoing story line. Which leads me into...
- Two routes and four total endings! The story line for Katrielle has four possible endings, two of which are very, very clear to as to how to get them. The third one requires you to be a little more thorough to see it, and the last ending is quite easy to miss, as it requires you to be at the right place, at the right time, with the right prerequisites fulfilled, every time. You can even skip out on the events, if you so please! Katrielle's dialogue will change and reflect which events have or have not been seen, but it can and will drastically change once you reached the ending, whichever one it may be. How to get each event will be described later on.
- A cute little house! Everyone's got to have a place to live, right? It's a little hard on the eyes, but looks are deceiving. There are certain gameplay benefits that her house offers. What those are, I'll leave it to you to figure out on your own.
- Katrielle is romancable! Because of course she is. But hey, you don't have to romance her. Maybe someone else will do it instead? Then again, I did recommend single player over multiplayer. Eh, it's your call. No judgement.
- Mod compatibility with Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion! Other characters aside from Katrielle are given lines, and those characters will have extra bits of dialogue that fit within the mold of Canon-Friend Dialogue Expansion.
Here are all the vague details about Katrielle.
Birthday: The concept of Katrielle was made on June 9, 2021 (Summer 9).
Schedule: She'll tend to stick around her house for a majority of the time. Finding her won't be a difficult task once you find her home. Oh, but don't talk to her on the 21st of each month. For a more comprehensive list, see below:
Spoiler:
Show
You will not be able to see her prior to the 0-Heart cutscene. Look below for how to see the event.
After the 0-Heart cutscene:
- On most days, she will stay in bed until 2PM. If you try to talk to her before 9 PM, she will say something along the lines of "I was out/up late last night, sucks doesn't it."
- After that, she'll hop onto her computer, and use it until around 8PM.
- At 8PM, she will abandon her redditor lifestyle to stare out into the ocean, right outside her house, before going to bed at 12AM.
- On Thursdays, she will leave her house to see the rest of the town instead of sleeping in bed at night. In Spring, Summer, and Fall, she'll go to the Town and the Mountains around 10PM. In Winter, she'll go to the Forest around 7:30PM. And she'll stay out for the rest of the in-game day.
- On the 21st of every season, she will stand in place and glitch out, making just about all of her dialogue illegible.
- If it is raining, she'll get up out of bed and stand in her house until 10AM. Then she'll stand outside and stare into the ocean until 12AM(not PM), where she will then go to sleep.
- For all festivals on the beach (Luau, Dance of the Moonlight Jellies, and the entirety of the Winter Night market), she'll just stay at home the entire day.
Her schedule will not change until you have completed the Main Path.

Loved Gifts: Many of her loved gifts are very random, and figuring out which items she would like will be difficult. She can reach into the void and grab anything that she wants, so items that have a higher value to the player won't be appreciated by Katrielle. For a practical list, see below:
Spoiler:
Show
For loved items, the easiest item to get is Bug Steak. She also likes Blobfish, Strange Dolls (both kinds), Jack o' Lanterns, Void Salmon, Ginger Ale, and Ginger Island Warp Totems.
For liked items, some of the easier items to get are Broken CDs, Spring Onions, Sweet Peas and Winter Roots. Some later game items she likes are are Coconuts, Cactus Fruit, Strange Buns, Slime Eggs, and the Farm, Mountain, and Beach warp totems.
Of note, many universal likes and loves are disliked by Katrielle, including but not limited to, all fruits from trees, Diamonds, and Prismatic Shards.
Hints for the Main Path
If you only want a vague hint for each of the storyline events, as well as the bad, good, and best endings:
Spoiler:
Show
- 0-Heart Event: A farmer must be able to farm, forage, fish, mine, and fight. From there, it's just a matter of having access to her house, and talking to the first person that sees her. Of note, you will be unable to meet her if you haven't done this event!
- 2-Heart Event: Only a sociopath would wake up willingly at 6AM. And Shane. That's why nearly everyone is still asleep.
- 4-Heart Event: Sometimes, watching a potential romance bloom is worthwhile. But I wonder which two people she thinks would make a good couple. They'd probably be around one of their houses, right?
- 6-Heart Event: Tinkering around with things is not a great idea, made much worse when someone decides to deviate from the script. Oh well, at least it's a bright and sunny day, and the nature of the forest looks beautiful.
- 8-Heart Event: The big choice is here. If Katrielle is well acquainted with everyone, her introduction will be smooth and easy. If not, well, it's not the end of the world, I hope. But you'll need a big crowd to make the announcement.
- 10-Heart Event: Whatever happens, you know Katrielle would be content back in her nice and comfortable bubble she calls her home.
- 14-Heart Event: Go back to where it all started. Same time, too.
-----------------
Here is a much more exhaustive list of each event, how to see them, and what actions will affect each event. SPOILERS FOR ALL EVENTS
The Main Path
These are the events that serve as the main conflict for Katrielle. There is an ongoing story line that will end differently depending on which cutscenes you have seen.
Spoiler:
Show
- For ALL events, it CANNOT be the 21st of the season.
- 0-Heart Event: Go to the beach after 8PM, after repairing the wooden bridge and getting the fishing rod and the sword. It cannot be the same day as a festival.
- 2-Heart Event: Go to Pelican Town between 6AM and 9AM, on a sunny day. You can NOT be dating Sam or Katrielle, and you can NOT see the 8-Heart Event before this event.
- 4-Heart Event: Go to the Mountains between 12PM and 4PM. It can NOT be Friday or Saturday. You can NOT be dating Abigail or Sebastian, and you can NOT see the 8-Heart Event before this event. In the first question prompt, picking the first or third answer will increase your friendship with Katrielle. Picking the second answer will decrease your friendship with Katrielle. The second question prompt will have no effect aside from dialogue. You will get different dialogue if you have met Dwarf, and you will receive a friendship benefit with either Katrielle or Abigail and Sebastian, depending on your answer in the third question prompt.
- 6-Heart Event: Go to Cindersap Forest between 8AM and 12PM, on a sunny day. It can NOT be winter. You can NOT see the 8-Heart Event before this event. You will get different dialogue if you have at least four hearts with Haley, and if another player has seen this event at least one day beforehand. In the question prompt, if you pick the first or second answer, your friendship with Katrielle will decrease. If you pick the third answer, your friendship with Katrielle will remain the same. If you pick the fourth answer, your friendship with Katrielle will increase.
- 8-Heart Event: Go to Stardrop Saloon between 8PM and 12AM. It can NOT be Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. The choice to pick out the ending will be decided here. If you pick the first answer option, you will get the bad ending and your friendship with Katrielle will drastically decrease. If you pick the second option, but you have NOT seen every previous heart event, you will get the good ending. If you pick the second option, and you have seen every previous Heart Event, you will get the best ending. This event will play out differently depending on if you have seen the 2-Heart Event, the 4-Heart Event or its deviation, the 6-Heart Event or its deviation, and if you seen Elliott's 8-Heart Event (him reading his book in the Museum). If one player has received the bad ending, but another player gets the good or best ending, ALL players will get the good or best ending.
- Second 8-Heart Event: Go to Town between 9AM to 5PM, on a sunny day. It cannot be the same day as a festival. You MUST be on the path for the good or best ending. This event will play out differently depending on if you have seen the 2-Heart Event, the 4-Heart Event, the 6-Heart Event, or any combination of the three. If you have seen all three events, it will also include Kent and Leo, should they have moved into Pelican Town. At this point, you can consider the main story line concluded. After seeing this event, if the Music Mod is installed, Katrielle's House will play a different song.
- 9-Heart Event: Go outside on your farm. You must have gotten the good or best ending, and you must be dating Katrielle (specifically dating, NOT married or engaged). The options provided will allow you to lower your relationship with her. After this event, you are able to see the Dating Path events.
- 10-Heart Event: Go to Katrielle's House. You must be dating, engaged, or married to Katrielle. This event will play out differently depending if you have not seen the 8-Heart Event, if you ONLY have seen the first 8-Heart event, if you have gotten the bad ending, if you have gotten the good ending, or if you have gotten the best ending.
- 14-Heart Event: Go to the Beach after 8PM. This event will play out differently depending on if you have the Music Mod installed or not.
-----------------
The Dating Path and other Miscellaneous Events
The Dating Path include all events that are meant to be seen before marriage with Katrielle. Unlike the Main Path, these events serve more as one-off events.
Spoiler:
Show
- For ALL events, you can NO LONGER see any of these events after getting engaged or married to Katrielle, unless you go through the process of divorcing her, wiping her memories, and dating her again.
- To see each event, you can NOT see the event in the same season as the previous event, starting with the 9-Heart Event. For example, if you have seen the 9-Heart Event in Summer, you then the earliest you can see the 2-Heart Dating Event is in Fall, then the earliest you can see the 4-Heart Dating Event is in Winter, and the earliest you can see the 6-Heart Dating Event is in Spring. And every event MUST be seen in chronological order.
- 2-Heart Dating Event: Go to the Blacksmith. If you pick the first or third answer, your friendship with Clint will remain the same. If you pick the second answer, your friendship with Clint will decrease.
- 4-Heart Dating Event: Go to Pelican Town between 9AM and 6PM, on a sunny day. You must have 2 Hearts with Abigail and Sebastian. If you pick the first, third, or fourth answer, your friendship with Katrielle will remain the same. If you pick the second answer, your friendship with Katrielle will decrease.
- 6-Heart Dating Event: Go the Cindersap Forest between 11AM and 4PM. You must have 6 Hearts with Leah and have seen her 4-Heart Event (Leah calling on the phone). If you pick the first answer, your relationship with Leah will decrease. If you pick the second answer, your friendship with Leah will remain the same.
- Divorce Event: After divorcing Katrielle, go to the farm.
-----------------
The Secret Route
These are the events for the secret route. Of note, this route will have the largest effect on the game, and the effects on your save file will be PERMANENT, so proceed with caution.
Spoiler:
Show
- Firstly, by pursuing this route, you will render not only Katrielle, but also Sam as no longer romanceable.
- The first half of this route REQUIRES you to have the prerequisites ON THE SAME DAY as you see the Heart Events on the Main Path. If you miss a single event in this first half, or if another player has picked the good/best ending for the first 8-Heart Cutscene on the Main Path, you will NOT be able to see the rest of the events, and you are back onto the Main Path. THIS IS PERMANENT, AND YOU WILL NEED TO START A NEW FILE TO SEE THIS ROUTE.
- For all events, you must NOT be dating Katrielle or Sam.
- 2-Heart Secret Event: Go to Sam's house on the same day as seeing the 2-Heart Event. You must have 2 Hearts with Sam, and you must have seen Sam's 2-Heart Event (Sam and Sebastian practicing in his room). If you skip the cutscene, or if you pick the first, third, or fourth answer, you will lock yourself out of the route. If you pick the second answer, you will be able to continue the route.
- 4-Heart Secret Event: Go to Sebastian's room on the same day as seeing the 4-Heart Event, between 4PM and 8 PM. You must have 3 Hearts with Sam, and 2 Hearts with Abigail and Sebastian. You also must have read the letter sent to you after the 2-Heart Secret Event. The dialogue will play out differently depending on if you have met the Dwarf.
- 6-Heart Event: Go to Cindersap Forest between 8AM and 12PM, on a sunny day. It can NOT be winter. You can NOT see the 8-Heart Event before this event. The event will end differently if you are still on the Secret Route. If you see this cutscene on Sam's birthday (Summer 17), you will lock yourself out of the route.
- 6-Heart Secret Event: Go to Katrielle's house on the same day as seeing the 6-Heart Event. You must have 5 Hearts with Sam. It can NOT be Sam's birthday (Summer 17). If you skip the cutscene, or if you pick the first answer, you will lock yourself out of the route. If you pick the second, third, or fourth answer, you will be able to continue the route. You will get different dialogue if another player had seen the 6-Heart cutscene on the Main Path on a different day.
- 8-Heart Event: Go to Stardrop Saloon between 8PM and 12AM. It can NOT be Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. If you have read the mail from the 6-Heart Secret Event and you are still on the Secret Route, the cutscene will play out differently. However, it is not yet necessary to have read the mail from the 6-Heart Secret Event. The choice to pick out the ending will be decided here. If you pick the first answer option, you will get the bad ending and your friendship with Katrielle will drastically decrease, and you will be locked out of the Secret Route. If you pick the second option, you will be able to continue the Secret Route.
- Second 8-Heart Event: Go to Town between 9AM to 5PM, on a sunny day. It cannot be the same day as a festival. You MUST be on the path for the best ending. If you have not read the mail from the 6-Heart Secret event, you will lock yourself out of the route. This event will have one line of dialogue changed, indicating that you are still on the Secret Route.
- 8-Heart Secret Event: Go to Sam's House on the day as seeing the the second 8-Heart Event. You must have at least 6 Hearts with Sam. The cutscene will play out differently if you are at 8 Hearts with Sam. IF YOU WERE ABLE TO SEE THIS CUTSCENE, YOU ARE NOW LOCKED INTO THE SECRET ROUTE. Sam and Katrielle are NO LONGER romanceable. In addition, a new room will be added to Katrielle's house.
- To see each event from this point onward, you can NOT see the event in the same season as the previous event, starting with the 8-Heart Secret Event. For example, if you have seen the first 10-Heart Secret Event in Spring, then the earliest you can see the second 10-Heart Secret Event is in Summer, and the earliest you can see the third 10-Heart Secret Event is in Fall. And every event MUST be seen in chronological order.
- For ALL events after this point, you must have 10 Hearts with both Katrielle and Sam.
- 10-Heart Sam Event: The requirements for this event are the same as Sam's normal 10-Heart Event. However, the event will play out differently.
- First 10-Heart Secret Event: Go to the Beach on a rainy day.
- Second 10-Heart Secret Event: Go to Katrielle's House. The event will play out DRASTICALLY different if the Music Mod is installed, and if the Music Mod is installed, Katrielle's House will play a different song.
- Third 10-Heart Secret Event: Go to Katrielle's House. After this point, the last changes of the Secret Route will take place.

it is Katrielle, as a glitch NPC, will have a lot of visual quirks and even gameplay quirks that may seem like they are bugs, but are intentional.
insert "it's not a bug, it's a feature" meme hereSo, here are a list of some "bugs" that are 100% intentional. In short, these "bugs" should not affect gameplay, or are expected gameplay features.- Nearly all map-tile flickering is intentional. This may not be the case with the addition of visual mods, so please let me know for confirmation.
- You are meant to "walk through walls" in order to walk to Katrielle's house.
- Katrielle's house is meant to look exactly as what you see.
- Katrielle will not sit down on the chair correctly.
- A good chunk of Katrielle's dialogue may include "glitching" but it is in a manner that does not actually break the game. (For reference, the lines of text should ALWAYS display normally).
- Katrielle should NOT be seen at any festivals. Sorry about that.
- For many events, Katrielle should be able to walk through tiles that the player is unable to walk through.
- In the 6-Heart Event, the flicker of characters is intentional.
- For the 4-Heart Dating Event, the characters are meant to be stuck in darkness.
- For the 14-Heart Event, the event should not end unless the player selects "Skip."
- For the third 10-Heart Secret Event, the event should "crash". NO OTHER EVENTS SHOULD DO THIS.
- Katrielle's head should appear on the ocean, should you have the NPC Map Locations mod installed.
-----------------
Here are a list of bugs. If there are any other bugs that you have encountered, or are unsure about certain bugs, please let me know.
- If there are any other mods that have events in the Blacksmith, the Katrielle mod and the other mod will not be able to load. I put out a hotfix for 1.0.1, so that you may toggle the load of the Blacksmith file in that case. Apologies for that! (┬┬﹏┬┬)
- In multiplayer, Katrielle's second 8-Heart cutscene will break for all other players aside from the player that triggered the cutscene. I would recommend all other players to skip the cutscene.
- Certain lines of dialogue may not play until the day after fulfilling the prerequisite requirement.
- Katrielle would initially start off as hidden on the "Relationships" tab, but as this caused game crashes, this change has been reverted until further notice.
-----------------
Here are a list of planned updates for Katrielle. These will come whenever it comes.
- Jodi, Kent, and Vincent will have some dialogue updated to reflect the Secret Route.
- Additional Config item to remove her glasses from all sprites and portraits. Currently, there is a way to do that. To do that, you must talk to her on Summer Thursday, while at 10 Hearts with her. She will give a singular prompt asking if you want her to keep her glasses off. This... is permanent, so I wanted to rectify that with a config option.
- Katrielle may be added to Feast of the Winter Star, and ONLY Feast of the Winter Star.
- Additional Mod Compatibility. This will happen if there are specific mods that has any conflicts with the Katrielle mod. Due to increased interest from both those who downloaded Katrielle and Katrielle's creators (ie. myself and ToastieV), we will prioritize compatibility with Stardew Valley Expanded.
Which we have yet to even play, so give us a minute LMAO Other small mods that do conflict with Katrielle can also be made compatible provided the amount of work needed isn't too much. - The Divorce Event will be revamped, and an additional Divorce Event is planned.
- Additional events and dialogue will be added, as well as any dialogue adjustments and schedule adjustments, as needed.
- Certain lines of dialogue will not break on the 21st of the season. This will likely be rectified with mod compatibility with MissCoriel's NPC Unique Courtship Response, but I'll still take the opportunity to explore around and see my options. The Unique Courtship Response mod, or whichever mod I choose to fix this issue, will be recommended, but NOT mandatory for this mod.
- The Custom Music mod will be defunct with the Stardew Valley 1.6 update (and hopefully nothing else), so that will need to be fixed when the time comes. I have also been made aware of another mod, SAAT - Audio API and Toolkit, which does what Custom Music does, but better. I'll investigate it, and I'll try to transfer all music related things over, if it proves to be a better option.
- Eventually, I will include the cipher to decode the glitched dialogue. If you manage to figure it out, kudos to you. :]
-----------------
Here are some noted compatibility issues with Katrielle V1.0.1.
- Isla - Custom NPC - Isla's boat currently blocks the entrance to Katrielle's house.
- Stardew Valley Expanded - Many events will not appear correctly, and some events will use the vanilla maps instead of the custom maps. Surprisingly more compatible than I was expecting, honestly. I am still investigating if there are any further issues.
- Platonic Partners and Friendships - Sam's altered 10-Heart event will not play with certain options selected.
-----------------
Here are a list of completed updates for Katrielle V1.1.0.
- Functional compatibility with Isla - Custom NPC.
- Slight dialogue changes from Katrielle's furniture.
- Some dialogue fixes. Kudos if you managed to see the jumpscare by accident. :]

Major thanks to all of Katrielle's testers for making sure that stuff don't break, particularly with multiplayer! (some stuff still broke, but it's probably fine)
Author's Note (last updated 6/9/2023)only took two years for what should have taken four months max, but a snail's pace is still moving forward. :]
also happy birthday Katrielle! Just in time for your release.
